Congratulations Player

2023 Junior Player of the Year Kali Kennedy

Kali is an 8th grader and a member of the Junior National Honor Society. Kali is CPR certified and helps teach kids aged 6 and younger to swim. She has volunteered multiple times with the “Feed My Starving Children” program in Mesa.

Kali is a member of our 2010 girls’ teams competing in both the APL and the Desert Conference. Kali started with AYSO Region 1046 and took two years off to pursue swimming before returning to United in 2022.

“Kali is extremely coachable and internally driven to improve. She is also a wonderful teammate, encouraging and supporting them at all times. ” AYSO United 2010 Girls Coach Mike Hollar.

In addition to her athletic talents, she is also a recognized poet. Kali wrote a poem about overcoming anxiety which was selected as the “Poetry of the Year” for her grade in the school district. Kali was honored as a positive role model and leader on campus. One of her teachers commented, “Kali’s maturity and dedication to her education is something to be honored and I am endlessly impressed by her.”

“Kali Kennedy is a great story for our club. She started as a player with the AYSO recreation program and when she decided to return to soccer, she found her home with the United program. As a young person who is an athlete, a scholar, and a poet, she has a wonderful future ahead of her and we hope to continue to see great things from her as she grows with our program as well.” Ed Alameda, AYSO United AZ Director of Coaching.
