Our Superstars in England and Spain

Congratulations and Good Luck to a few of our ODP reps currently having fun across the pond.

We are excited to share that we have 4 members of our AYSO United Arizona family currently in Europe, competing with their respective ODP teams.

Coach Michael Blair is running the ship in England with the 2010 girls, which feature Ellery McCormick and Madison Davis from Coach Hollar’s squad.

Traveling with the 2008 ODP girls in Spain is Reagan Davis from Coach Buchanan’s 2008 Girls. The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is designed to bring together some of the top players in Arizona and have them participate in national and international events.

Players are selected, on the basis of open tryouts. These tryouts are conducted by the Arizona Soccer Association, with US Youth Soccer. Coaches are selected based on their ability to identify and train players with superior skills. Selection of players to be a part of ODP is not an easy task.

Players are evaluated on the four components that make up a soccer player: Technique, Tactics, Athletic Ability and Attitude. Those who make the team, are then invited to participate in events like this one.

Our coach and players will be treated to nine days of sightseeing, training and friendly competition. We are so proud of all of you and look forward to hearing all about your travels.
